Beachfront hotels in Panama City Beach

Of the hotels we checked, 9 stand directly on the sand. One resort has buildings on both sides of the road, so whether you're on the beach depends on your room. One hotel is across the road from the beach. Fees differ a lot: some hotels include parking, others charge $20 to $30 a day for a car, and some add a daily resort fee.

What counts as beachfront

On the sand, across the road, or both

We list a hotel as "on the sand" when the hotel itself says its building is on the beach. For the others, either the hotel says it isn't on the beach, or it isn't clear.

"On the sand" describes the building, not your room. A Gulf view or a private balcony depends on the room type. Check that the room you book lists it.

Some resorts are split. Margaritaville Beach Cottage Resort has beach villas on the sand and cottages north of Front Beach Road, and you learn your cottage at check-in. At the Holiday Inn Resort the hotel is on the beach and the parking lot across the road, connected by a tunnel. Hampton Inn & Suites Beachfront is on the Gulf, but its parking garage is across the street.

Embassy Suites is across Front Beach Road from the beach. Hilton's own article says it is "directly across from the public access beach point", so we list it as across the road.

What you pay on top

Compare the total, not the room rate. On top of these, Florida's 6% sales tax, Bay County's 1% sales surtax and Bay County's 5% tourist development tax apply to stays.

For a week or more with a kitchen, a condo on the beach can make more sense.
